Through her many experiences Olivia Autry is well prepared for the next stage of her career.
Tackling her academic studies is not the only thing Olivia听Autry will be working on this year.
The accounting major and Spanish minor in the continues to excel inside and outside the听classroom. A member of several campus organizations听and committees, including the Accounting Society, Voices听of Inspirational Praise gospel choir and Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow, she is co-captain of the AU Paws Step听Team and also serves on the Robert B. Willumstad School听of Business Student Advisory Board and the Student听Technological Advisory Committee.
In June 2012, Ms. Autry took two courses鈥擟onversational听Spanish and Traditional Sevillano Dance鈥攄uring an听enriching study abroad experience in Seville, Spain,听where she lived with a family who helped improve her听Spanish speaking and comprehension skills and who听gave her a deeper understanding and appreciation for听Sevillian culture.
鈥淢ake it a priority to take every opportunity given to you,鈥澨齅s. Autry offered as advice for Adelphi students. 鈥淟earn听to make the most of even the smallest of experiences, such听as a boat tour, along the way.鈥
In addition to her course work and extracurricular听involvement, she is also a resident computer associate in听the Office of Information Technology, where she conducts听workshops for students and faculty and facilitates听numerous training sessions for new student employees.
Meanwhile, the Center for Career Development has been听a major stepping stone in her path to career success.

Ms. Autry has participated in and attended the center鈥檚 events,听such as LinkedIn workshops, the annual Job and Internship Expo听and the Student Worker Training Seminar. Three programs, in听particular, propelled Ms. Autry forward: the Alumni Mentoring听program, the Community Fellows Program听and the Accounting On-Campus Recruitment听program.
Through Alumni Mentoring, she secured听a mentor in her field of study, Tomislav听Kostadinov 鈥10, who was working听at Schwartz & Company, LLP, and is听currently employed at Goldman Sachs.听Mr. Kostadinov has been an asset in听helping her narrow down her career听choices and he has offered invaluable听advice. Despite a busy schedule, Mr.听Kostadinov has met with Ms. Autry and听checks on her progress. And they have听become friends along the way.
Selected as a Community Fellow, Ms. Autry worked as a听business consultant intern at the Cedarmore Corporation,听which reinforced her passion for business and accounting听by teaching these subjects to high school students. Now听an ambassador for the Community Fellows Program, she听speaks with prospective students about her experiences听and also participates in panel discussions to promote the听program.
Participating in the On-Campus Recruitment program听was the latest chapter in her career development process.听Through the program, she secured a summer internship听in the audit department of Grant Thornton LLP, as well听as position in the Deloitte Mentor Program. At Grant听Thornton, she performed many of the same functions as听a first-year associate and participated in office enrichment听activities. At Deloitte, she was assigned a mentor to aid in her听growth process and participated in career-building activities.
Through her many experiences, she is well prepared for听the next stage of her career.
