Adelphi women's lacrosse takes third NCAA Division II title in four years with a 6-4 win against Florida Southern
For the third time in four years the Adelphi women鈥檚 lacrosse team was crowned the Division II national champion. In a 6-4 win against Florida Southern, four goals from Kate Beier 鈥�17 and stifling defense from team member Ryley Weber 鈥�17 made all the difference.
A number of news outlets including NCAA.com, News 12 Long Island, and Newsday covered the championship game in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, which was the Panther鈥檚 eighth title win and the second win under head coach Pat McCabe.
鈥淚 was never on a defense like this, I鈥檒l tell you that much,鈥� McCabe told Newsday. 鈥淚 marvel at how they play, I really do.鈥�
Weber, along with fellow seniors Beier, Jen Graham 鈥�17 Jacqueline Jahelka 鈥�17 Jill Graziano 鈥�17 and Casey Zalewski 鈥�17 made history in their four years as Panthers. 鈥淚 really couldn鈥檛 do it without anyone I鈥檓 playing with down low,鈥� Weber told Newsday. 鈥淚 owe everything I鈥檝e done the past four years to everybody that鈥檚 been on the field with me.鈥�
